You may have read in the Fusion Blog, Abby our Fusion Intern came to visit this week, so we decided to plan an event for Saturday. The students and I decided that it would be fun to do a hike out to one of our leader’s houses. Beni lives in a different village which is over the mountain from Banska Bystrica. We made the announcement and had 4 students at first who met at the Fusion center for the hike. Along with the three of us who were leaders, we had quite a small number. As we began to walk across town to the mountains, we ran in to a couple other students who wanted to join us. It was funny how it all came together. As we hiked we had a great opportunity to share life with each other and to talk about many things. I also enjoyed watching how Abby interacted with the students and began to build into their lives. It is great to have an intern who jumps right in and builds relationships.
As we approached the top of the mountain the clouds cleared, the sky was rather cloudy before. It left us with an amazing view of the city. We decided we would take a break here and sat for a while and just laughed together and talked. These times where we can be out in nature with the students are so precious to me. It is amazing what conversations happen when you just get out of normal life and try something out of the ordinary. After this we began hiking and finished at Beni’s house where we had a cook out and played racket ball and even had a dance party. It was really a great time of friends and fellowship.
