Two guys, a bug, a camera, and some trains (This is discipleship)

Peto, I, and the Train

Many of you might know Peto, he is the younger brother of Jano, the piano player in our Fusion. Peto has been a pretty troubled kid and hard to be around. He has been in our fusion and come to youth group for 3 years.  I have always had to pray a lot before being around him.  About a year ago, Peto picked up a camera, and just like his brother on piano, he is a natural. He has been getting better and better.  He was even hired as a jr. photographer for the newspaper in Banska Bystrica, and he is only 15 years old!  This is not like a newspaper in the States, just a small company, but it is still big for him!

This summer he prayed with one of our leaders to receive Christ, but I didn’t think it was real.  I am starting to believe he may have really given his life to Christ. We have been hanging out more and I have taken him to lunch a couple of times.  I have never known him to be really interested in things of God or prayer.  This is why I doubted, that he gave his life to Christ.  Two meals ago I asked him if I could pray for the meal.  As I prayed, I thanked God for the talent he gave Peto, and asked God, if He would teach Peto how to use it to praise Him.  Peto was perplexed and asked me, “I can praise God by my photography?”  I told him, he could.  This seemed to be new information for him.  Right now he borrows a friend’s camera.  I made a deal with him that if he can earn half of the cost of the camera at the  job with the newspaper, then I would find the other half of the money to get his very own camera.  We already have one picked out and he is nearly half way there.

This weekend, I took him in my bug, up to a place along the railroad, where many trains go by.  We both love trains.  We sat there and took photos and videos of the trains.  Before going there, we had lunch.  I asked him if I could pray and he said no.  I was a little disappointed, but then he said, “No… Because I want to pray for the meal and you.”  Can you imagine?!?  How neat is that? As we watched the trains, we had a great conversation about photography and how to start a business. He wanted to know how he could worship God with His photography.  Praise God for big changes in this young man’s life!
